有一台PIX 520, 版本为Version 4.2(4), 想升级成6.1(1)版本。
按照CCO所提供的升级步骤，用rawrite做了一张Boot Helper启动盘

在软盘引导下启动进入到Monitor状态时候，报错并反复重启。
错误信息提示如下：

一、说是你的flash卡过期了，是不是需要升级flash？
二、是不是你换张软盘重新做一下启动盘试试

Flash卡也会有过期的? 倒是第一次听说, 不过flash卡容量为8M, 应该是可以满足升级需要的。

不是Flash过期，是Flash中的软件版本太旧...要用这个方法来升级，原来的版本要在4.4以上，4.2(4)版的不知道该怎么升，最好能咨询一下Cisco TAC。

不应该啊, 这篇DOC 说的不仅仅指4.4, 应该是4.4& earlier的版本都可以通过BootHelper 方法来升级的 |

顺便问一下, 在PIX V4.2(4)下, 用什么命令可以看FlASH 的容量?
用show version 好像没有显示 :-( |

从CCO上的Cisco PIX Firewall Configuration Guide, Version 4.2上查到答案了：
This command lets you view the PIX Firewall's software version, operating time since last reboot, processor type, Flash memory type, interface boards, and serial number (BIOS ID). If the Flash memory type states "atmel," then it is the 2 MB unit; otherwise, it is the 512 KB version. PIX Firewall units with serial numbers 06002016 and higher have 2 MB Flash memory cards, as do all PIX10000 units, and all PIX510 and PIX520 units.

看来是我理解错了。
4.4以前的PIX也可以用boothelper的方法来升级，但如果硬件配置为2M Flash/32M内存，则只能升级到5.1.x。同理boothelper 只能使用bh5.1.bin或更旧的版本，否则会报错：“Obsolete FLASH card. Upgrade required. ”
5.2.x 以上版本需要8M Flash/32M 内存。
Flash 的大小在低版本的软件下通过show version 不能直接看到，但通过楼上olive提供的方法可以判断:
Flash atmel @ base 0x300 ... 2M
Flash strata @ base 0x300 ... 16M

我在CCO上只能找到Boothelper 最低版本为5.2(6), 哪位兄弟提供一份5.1(x)的Boothelper,谢谢...
